The Draftsman, Charlottesville, University, Autograph Collection Hotel

This is a relatively quiet hotel for such a great location walkable to everything. The staff are friendly and helpful (valet, front desk, cleaning). Comfortable rooms, though small. Valet service is reasonable add on cost. The only concerns we had were the restaurant staff didn’t acknowledge patrons waiting for over 10 min so most left; and would like to see makeup mirrors in bathrooms for this Marriott level. There were multiple weddings but we heard no noise.

I’ve stayed at The Draftsman several times during winter weather when I’m working nearby, and this hotel consistently exceeds expectations. The rooms are quiet and cozy with excellent linens, the food is wonderful, and the location is incredibly convenient. What truly sets this property apart, though, is the people. During an extended stay due to severe winter conditions, the staff showed genuine kindness, flexibility, and compassion that went far beyond standard hospitality. From the front desk to housekeeping, I felt cared for and supported in a way I won’t forget. This is a hotel that understands comfort isn’t just about the room—it’s about how you treat people. I’ll always choose The Draftsman when I need a place that feels calm, welcoming, and human.

We had a wonderful stay at The Draftsman in Charlottesville. The location is outstanding, especially if you’re visiting the University area, with easy access to campus, restaurants, and local attractions. The customer service was excellent from start to finish—staff were friendly, attentive, and made everything effortless. The rooms are very well designed, modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out with great attention to detail. Everything felt clean, fresh, and high quality. The valet parking was also extremely convenient and made arrivals and departures simple and stress-free. What truly stood out was their exceptional customer care. Four stars only because the parking was a bit of a hassle and that truly was impactful. Starting with the good: the property is beautiful and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the King Suite we had was great. We had breakfast at The Ridley; the brioche fresh toast and sausage were the highlights. Perhaps worth mentioning that we asked for espresso but were told their espresso machine has been broken for a very long time. The location is very walkable to downtown Charlottesville. It’s valet-only parking $. The valet told us there were two parking decks nearby with just a short walk—11th and 14th street parking garages. That said, we parked in the 11th street parking garage and the next morning after checking out we had issues existing the garage. We were scolded by the parking

Front desk and valet 10/10 for new years night. Amazing customer service across the board. Personable while still professional. Everyone was above and beyond. Decor is great even, nothing outdated. Housekeeping was on point during our stay. Lots of amazing places to eat near by, good part of town but still relaxed area.
