Hampton Inn & Suites Newport News (Oyster Point)

Currently in the middle of our stay here and just felt the urge to leave my review now...... Pros- Location is good with a Mall across the street that we have gone to twice, several stores with lots of food options! As well as lots of other restaurants, a gas station, and Dollar Tree within a very short walking distance. Rooms are pretty good, comfort wise and clean. Cons- Took a long time for us to get checked in, we booked 2 rooms together so not quite sure why we had to request to be at least somewhat close. One of the elevators is down as well as what appears to be most of the ice machines. Road noise is very light but the noises from EVERYTHING inside the hotel are very loud! You can hear everything in the hallway as though the people walking by are in your room. Every door within t

The workers were very helpful and very friendly. I was very pleased with the services I received. They were very accommodating. I thank them very much for their terrific service. The hotel was clean but tha bath tub floor was cracked. I wear shoes but if not I could have cut my feet. The TV picture kept getting frozen or continually buffering. The picture would consistently black out. You could not enjoy watching tv. Request desk light bulbs be changed, one bulb was done the other light was broken. Bathroom fan covered in dust.

Sonja at the front desk was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. She went above and beyond in every possible way to make sure my stay was smooth and comfortable, always with a warm smile and a great attitude. Her level of care and professionalism made a huge difference and set the tone for the entire stay. Sonja is a real asset to the hotel—thank you for such outstanding service!

While the front desk was friendly and helpful, especially when I checked in and one of my beds was used and unchanged, they were helpful throughout he weekend. The hotel is a bit dated and needs a refresh. The location isn't the best- right against a strip center and an unknown property and close to the busy road. Our group had use of the conference room for the stay. While organizing a case of drinks in there, a cockroach ran out from under it. I later learned that a member of our group had a roach land on her arm while sitting in bed. While our kids (college age) were eating breakfast, an unhoused man came into the lobby, took a cell phone off of their table, and ran out with it.
