Hampton Inn & Suites Mooresville/Lake Norman

I frequently visit this area on business. This hotel used to be my favorite place to stay (reasonable price, good location, friendly staff, clean, great breakfast choices), but the last two times I’ve stayed here, the rooms smell awful. I thought it was just a fluke, but it’s not. The last time I stayed there my room smelled like a wet dog. After a two day stay, I could not wait to get out. The smell was making me nauseous. I don’t want to, but I am looking for another hotel of choice (likely another brand that does allow pets). I wish this hotel would change its pet policy.

Positive: Location and the room being a suite, like the ceiling fan. Negative: It was not the most up to date room and not the cleanest. Toilet seat was the right seat for the toilet no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable, and the furniture was old and stained. The cost was pretty high considering

Brought luggage to room in afternoon, came back in the evening and someone had smoked pot in our room! We checked vents and air conditioning and it was definitely in our room. Outlet didn’t work in the bathroom, and there was no mirror (supposed to be one, was taken out) where an outlet worked in the room for a hairdryer. Workmen were staying in rooms doing renovations and paint/ spackling was all over the elevator floors. By far the worst Hampton experience we’ve ever had. Can’t believe we spent more to stay in a nicer area and it turned out like this. Pitiful.

Location is prime! It was close to everything in Mooresville and to the places that we needed to get to. There’s plenty of stores nearby such as Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, gas stations and more! Location definitely gets a star! No one was at the front desk and there was a sign that they were helping out another guest but they just came out from the back. It took 5+ minutes to wait and get greeted and then another 5 minutes to check in. Breakfast was superb, probably one of the better buffet breakfasts! That alone gets another star. Rooms were okay, a good size but what they didn’t show was that though there’s a “kitchen” area, there’s no plates, dishes, cups, only a half fridge and microwave. No pots, no nothing. Something to keep in mind if you’re wanting a full kitchen. Noise level

I love Hampton Inns across the country but this one is the equivalent of a sleep deprivation chamber. The walls are thin and cheap so you hear guests throughout the night, light leaks in from windows and doors so the room doesn’t get dark, the bedding is extremely hot. I do not recommend staying here if you hope to sleep through the night.
