Hampton Inn & Suites Lansing West

Beware. I tried to get early check-in but they charge 50 bucks extra for the privilege. And I'm an 8 year Diamond member. I see they responded below. So, I called the hotel and asked for the manager to discuss my review. I'm always willing to to be taught where I might have misunderstood. But they wouldn't put me through to speak with them. To be clear, I called early morning before my arrival and was told there is a 50 dollar fee for early arrival. So, of course, I didn't arrive early. I'm a long-standing Diamond member, not that that should mean anything, and I have never encountered this before. That is why I even bothered to take the time to post this review. I am at the very end of a trip, where I just stayed at 7 different Hilton properties in the past week and a half (1 Curio, 3 Hampton, 1 Tru, 1 Spark and 1 Hilton Garden Inn). ||Unfortunately, this property was the least desirable of all the ones I stayed in. ||First, the good --- the location is great! It is right next door to Herrod's Farm Market -- you can seriously walk across the parking lot, a very short distance. What a great place. ||The hotel itself, well I just felt like it could use a deep clean and some attention soon. I was staying on the fourth floor. The first thing I noticed when I exited the elevator, was the terrible garbage stench. I'm not sure what was up with that. ||My room has seen some better days. We had never used Fido before and they gave us to Hampton Inn. We weren’t sure what to expect and it was wonderful. The service was amazing the woman, and at the front desk and the college student after she left were both helpful and kind. Funny greeted us every time we came in. Pool was clean hot tub. Wonderful rooms great breakfast. The next morning was unbelievable. We couldn’t believe we are getting that much. The location was perfect. I can’t say enough about this. This is a great hotel to stay in.

The location is good off the highway.. but this Hampton is rather tired and in need of a little refurbishment. The sitting bench inside our room was beat, the vinyl covering was all cracked and chipping. The carpet will as well worn, the bathroom was “clean “ but caulking around the tub/shower area needs to be replaced. Frames around the mirrors and woodwork all chipped up. Old School hvac unit under the window. This is not worth the price they are charging. I have had better TRU by Hilton rooms for half the price.

Check in was fast and easy. When I checked in last Monday evening a really nice lady, Gail I believe her name was, was working she told me about the wonderful farmers market down the street so I went to stop and take a look and on my way back she hand plates and napkins waiting for me so I could enjoy my food in my room. Very nice service the whole trip.
