Hampton Inn & Suites Charlottesville-At The University

The location of this hotel is great. We’ve always had a great experience with Hiltons as Diamond members. However, we had a terrible experience with this hotel. We received a notification from the Hilton App around 12:30 pm that said our room was ready and that our digital key was ready to use. We arrived around 1:30 pm. We entered our room with our digital key and were notified that there was a $75 early check in fee. I could possibly understand this if we had not already been given access to the room but to charge this after you are given a digital key is ridiculous. If you are going to charge an early check in fee, don’t grant access to the room with the app. Or if you do, the app should say only use your digital key before 4:00 if you are willing to pay $75. I’m realizing there

The rooms are nice, the service is good, and the location is great. There is a Starbucks, liquor store, convenience store, gym, and great restaurants all within about 500 feet of this place. I haven't even bothered taking the rental car anywhere other than to my job site and back. I really enjoy it here.

We are in Charlottesville for my son's surgery. It was very convenient to the hospital and wonderful walking to lunch, dinner and a wonderful bakery. We didn't realize until late at night that our AC wasn't working. The staff very nicely moved us into a room with AC. It was a great night's sleep.

Probably the worst customer service ever experienced. Main lobby door would not open when we arrived at 3pm. We had hands full with birthday presents, a small dog and luggage. My daughter waved her foot in front of the door to see if it was a sensor issue. We realized it was locked by key card and opened the door. When we got inside the lady at the front desk screamed at us, said if we damage the door we will pay for the door damage, and she would "roll the cameras back". Wow. WTF. Never staying here again.
