Hampton Inn Sacramento/Rancho Cordova

We started out with a terrible experience but the next front desk associate saved the day. We arrived a bit early for check-in and up until this point every Hilton would provide a room if available or we would need to wait. In this case the first thing we were told, before the person even checked who we are (silver members), was that it would be $25 to check in early!! When those are the first words you are greeted with to start your stay it doesn’t set very positive expectations. If they actually had rooms ready it’s nothing for them to assign us one. If we were asking them for a special service to prepare one just for us I could understand. But we weren’t. So we left and came back. I was not a fan of this Hampton. Positives-Good Rate and that's about it. Negatives-Expensive parking, front desk at check in was not friendly, loud rooms. When we checked in we asked for some water, since we are normally offered free bottled water for being an Honors member, but were told no you can buy some bottled water or pour some in a cup from a pitcher on the counter. Our room was facing the highway and it was loud from the highway noise, so try to get one on the other side. The worst part is the expensive parking. Out of 5 other prosperities within a half mile, this property is the highest priced one in the area. The Fairfield Inn next door is free. Positive: I will vote the cleanness is the best point in the hotel. Morning buffet was best too! Negative: I could no point out any disadvantages at this hotel!

The AC/heater gave off a horrible smell. It was the smell of Urine, which means that mold and bacteria are growing in the HVAC system due to trapped moisture, usually from clogged filters, a backed-up drain pan, etc. We asked for another room but they did not have one. We slept uncomfortably without the HVAC running. Could not open the window. The tub would not drain. Took a shower and all of the water was at my calves when done. Staff did not offer any discount. There should always be compensation when something like this goes wrong. I was not a Karen. Just asking politely.

This Hampton Inn location is in serious need of a full renovation and better upkeep. The hotel interior looks well worn, and there are visible signs of neglect. From the outside near the main entrance, we even noticed a second-floor room where the window had been completely removed by a guest — not something you expect to see at a Hilton-brand property. Our room had numerous issues and felt outdated. Clean towels had a long strand of black hair on top of them. The wall-mounted lotion dispenser above the sink was nearly pulled out from the wall, and the metallic legs under the sink were rusted.
