Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Rancho Cordova

This is a standard Courtyard but what sets it apart are the employees. They are so friendly and accommodating. I spend over 100 nights per year in hotels and find a lot of them staffed by indifferent people. Not the case here. It is so refreshing to feel appreciated as a customer. It's my last week of work travel before Christmas and I am happy to be here on my last night. This franchise owner must do something right to have such great people. They all deserve a raise. I find some of the complaints and one star reviews elsewhere for this property rather baffling. It’s not a bad hotel, at all. ||I’m travel a lot, and I am approaching 2000 nights at Marriott properties at this point and feel I likely have a better handle on what Marriott’s brand standards are than even most Marriott corporate staff. This property did a great job for our stay. ||This is a first generation Courtyard from back in the day when Courtyards actually had a courtyard, so it’s several decades old at this point. But it’s also been fully redone—all new bathrooms, carpets, furniture, hallways, lobby, the works—so it’s a clean, fresh property and our stay was pleasant and quiet, everything worked as it should and the building, rooms and public spaces are all in great condition. Very disappointing. We stay with Marriott hotels all the time and this one was nothing like the other ones. Pros: The service was good . All the employees we interacted with were helpful and kind. The pool area is nice and the pool is heated. Cons: there is no hot tube. Breakfast is not included and what they serve there, is not good and extremely overpriced! The rooms smell like cigarettes and the air is heavy (I ended up having a headache because of the smell). We had two rooms on the second floor. The carpet is old, the rooms are dated. You can tell that the lobby was remodeled but not the rest of the hotel. A lot of rusted places, the grass on the side of the hotel was mudded (there was some sort of problem with irrigation). I would not recommend a stay there. Parking is payed also.

I had read some poor reviews and was very pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a great place to stay. Everything was very clean and seemed fresh. The pool was nice too, great to spend some time by. I found the staff to be absolutely excellent. Everyone was very friendly and Jerri on reception was the standout star, she helped us with everything, a true professional. I would go back there.
