Fairfield Inn Kansas City Downtown/Union Hill

I stayed there last Wednesday and had a great stay! Carlos at the front desk was so kind, and he remembered me from a previous stay! I asked him if the room I stayed in the last time was available, since it had a nice view of the downtown skyline, and he not only found the room I stayed in, but he actually got me the room right above it on the fourth floor with an even better view! He also told me about the streetcar that goes right in front of the hotel. He said the last time I had stayed, it wasn’t completed but is now available; it is super convenient to have that streetcar, which is free and takes you to the Plaza shopping area and to downtown! Carlos, you’re a great ambassador for not just the Marriott Bonvoy brand but also for Kansas City! Thank you for your hospitality, exceptional

I stayed in the newly remodeled section that was very nice. The hotel was quiet, I didn't really hear the other guests. It was very close to the transportation I needed and two stops away from the Hallmark Experience that made it nice to come and go. There was a building I had to walk by that is being worked on that had large gaping holes at the bottom and mattresses behind the fence that were close to the trolly stop that made me feel uncomfortable but once that is done I think the area will be nice.

Positive: The tv did not work. The front desk person told us that service was in and out. I asked if the cable company had been called and they said yes. This was not true. All rooms were not out of service. Negative: The lies told by staff. The hotel rooms need remodeling. I was told there was nothing that could be done about the non working tv. My calls were not documented. So the next person on staff knew nothing about my complaint. We were moved.

We had a great experience at this hotel and loved having the free tram available, which we took the entire time we were in KC. We ran into an issue with our type of room we booked not being available at check-in, but the front desk staff did a great job of rectifying that the next morning. The housekeeping staff even moved our bags to the new room for us when we were out for the day and included the two phone chargers we had forgot to pack back up that morning. I really appreciated their help in fixing the situation and making our stay more comfortable.

This was an excellent location with great parking. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional. The building is going through a bit of a renovation so it looks a bit old in some spots and have been refreshed in others. I would definitely stay here again. I just would like to see it much cleaner and more refreshed.
