DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Rocky Mount

The staff and location are great, but the rooms are disgusting. We stayed on the first floor in 146. There was layers of dust everywhere. The door didn't close flush, it could slightly open even with the lock. The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. There was no fan in the bathroom, so it was damp in the room for a while anytime you showered. The showerhead came out of the wall if you tried to adjust it. The rooms smelled like smoke and mildew. The only reason we stayed after checking in was because we got there close to midnight and had volleyball games all weekend. I understand this is an older hotel, but there is a difference between old and dirty. The beds were comfortable. Also stayed 2 nights and never had my room cleaned or serviced.

Great place. Just a suggestion to clean/remove or buy a new couch for the lobby. Very stained and dirty in such a beautiful common area. |There were only two bath towels in a room that fit three. There was no blanket available for the pullout couch in the bag supplied that had not been refreshed .|Planning ahead when you have groups coming in is important!

Positive: The hotel location was close by where I needed to go when I arrived. I enjoyed the location of businesses around the hotel. Negative: I did not like the bathroom. The hotel was nice but the bathroom needed some PM maintenance. The door was squeaky and the shower has mold/rust. I didn't expect that from DoubleTree Hilton.

Check-in was excellent. The front-desk staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond. She even suggested changing from a first-floor room to the second floor, explaining that the first floor is the pet-friendly floor — a thoughtful recommendation. When you enter the room, there’s a large open space to the right. Immediately to the left is the bathroom, which has a standard tub/shower combo, a hair dryer, and typical hotel fixtures. Even with two lights on either side of the mirror, the lighting is dimmer than many hotel bathrooms and could use brighter bulbs. Inside the bathroom is a large mirror, and just outside it is another full-size mirror. There is also a long black hair stuck to the bathroom ceiling. When the front desk person with a straight face says that property is still operating under covid restrictions in 2025 everything else becomes laughable. This is NOT the place to stay in rocky mount NC. There were actual roaches in my room and in the "restaurant " which was completely an understaffed mess. The food was sub par for a Hinton property and the staff was at best disinterested in providing a positive customer experience. The room smelled of mildew or mold. There were wet spots on the floor from some obvious water leak and the roaches were everywhere. I practically live in hotels for my job and can honestly say.... Do yourself a favor and avoid this horrible hotel at all costs. Even if it costs you extra. They literally gave up years ago and it is no longer a quality
