Courtyard by Marriott Charlottesville - University Medical Center

I love the convenience of Starbucks on the 1st floor, because there's not a continental breakfast. Their website stated the rooms have a hairdryer. No they do not! Parking in their garage costs $10 per day. The location is strange for this style hotel. It is right at the UVA campus. I've never seen a Marriott lounge so empty. I saw it busy only once... and it was when a large group of kids were meeting a UVA admissions representative to go on a tour.

This Courtyard is an amazing location; it is close to many restaurants, the amazing needlepoint shop Poppypoint and so many facets of UVA. The staff could not be more kind, gracious and focused on ensuring that you have a positive experience. From the time that my friend and I checked in and helped by Ricara -- to our breaksfast's that Casey ensured were cooked to perfections and my coffee prepared just as I like it by both he and Shayla; to front desk folks Charlie and Chris; and Charlie helping out in the Bistro during the evening. It is a warm and wonderful place where guests come first; housekeeping pays attention to making sure the rooms are clean and well maintained. I stayed at this hotel a couple years back. I took my three-year-old son with me to drop off my daughter at UVA. We always loved staying in Charlottesville, but this experience was not great. We had stayed in the hotel before, mostly because of its location, everything else was average. My son likes to play with my watch, and unfortunately, the night before played with my watch and lost it. I forgot to check for my watch in the morning and then realized after I checked out that my watch was missing. I contacted the hotel, but somebody had already booked the room so they couldn’t check it at that moment. The hotel management was very uncooperative, and was reluctant to even talk to the cleaning staff, insinuating that I was making accusations as opposed to just checking up. I found their re

The host/receptionist/check-in agent was absolutely wonderful. She was very kind, welcoming, and attentive. My only issue with the stay was the room cleanliness didn't meet my expectations. There were two used washcloths draped over the shower when we first entered the room, and the sheets had a significant amount of hair on them--making me wonder if they had been changed. I didn't relay the status of the room to the staff because they allowed for an early check-in and the room state was liveable.

I was worried about my stay after reading the other reviews. my room was nice and clean.The pull out couch is not comfortable at all. However, the check in staff were so nice and helpful. the lady at breakfast saturday morning was working hard single handed yet still was kind. No issues witht the location.
