Comfort Inn Newport News - Hampton I-64

Nice hotel, clean spacious rooms. We were greeted at the front desk by Veda, she was very professional courteous, friendly and was more than ready to help with any questions. This hotel is close to everything you need or looking for. Newport News Airport, Fort Eustis, Busch Gardens lots of historic Virginia a little ride to Virginia Beach and Norfolk. It's not over priced and excepts pets for a small fee. Definitely a return stay if in this area again.

Customer service is great and everyone is very friendly. I don’t know if it was because it was Christmas week but the breakfast was abismal and was either watery scrambled eggs, undercooked sausage patties, or greasy kielbasa sausage. The waffles were good though. Luckily there was a Dunkin Donuts across the road. The room was fairly clean but there was definitely a moisture problem. It had a strong mildew smell and we had to keep the window open most of the time and in the shower there was mold/mildew round the fixtures. The location is great as you are right off of Jefferson Ave and next to the mall so we had no difficulty finding things to do or things to eat. For the price this was a good place to stay but I’m not sure I would stay again simply for the smell in the room. My husband and

I stayed here for a weekend, when I checked in the staff wasn’t very talkative or cheerful. They were not rude tho, or unhelpful, if there was a problem they were quick to address it. The lobby did have a weird musty smell; and the halls had a cigarette smoke smell, not a strong smell but definitely could smell it. The room was by far the most clean and pleasant smelling part of this place. The sheets seemed very clean and was very comfortable. The HVAC unit did seem to be a heat pump style system and worked very efficient, but the Thermostat was forced to be in AUTO mode so when we were trying to keep the room warm the unit would kick into cool to bring the temp down instead of staying off till the temp fell down. Front desk people not friendly or kind. The elevator was broke not acceptable. Also no one cleaned our room we were there from a Thurs to a Sun. The only way trash got taken out I saw 1 lady in hall wall and I gathered up my towels and trash and gave it to her VERY unacceptable! I had to call to front desk and go down and get fresh linens. I felt like you need more help on the housekeeping side and need nicer people at front desk. The breakfast was mediocre at best sausage was terrible but ok. For what we paid I was not pleased at all. Please reevaluate your staff choices and the way things are handled at your establishment. That’s my feed back let’s try to do better with others that may stay not me take care

Great convenient location. Rooms and service were good. Some maintenance needed - bathroom door sticks, closet doors install incorrectly. Room 320. Loved the shower supplies installed in the shower. We would stay here again but I’d buy my own toilet paper. Theirs was like sand paper. 😜
