Candlewood Suites Syracuse-Airport by IHG

Conveniently located very close to the airport and decent amount of parking. Rooms are straight out 90s decor and furnishings. Room was missing office chair, both faucets were leaking and if you are near mechanical room it’s very noisy. Sound proofing is non existent- you will hear doors slam all night. Hopefully the scheduled improvements will address some of the issues for the future

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The room was large since it was an extended stay and clean and comfortable. The hotel is one of the few in the area that has an airport shuttle, and it was reliable. The airport is very small and doesn't have many flights at odd hours, but the rooms was quiet during sleep hours. There are several fast food places (McDonald's, Taco Bell, Sonic) across a busy street from the hotel. I overlapped with a major university event and experienced surge pricing common to all college towns. I would stay here again for the right price.

Positive: It was close to our doctor's appointment. And was quite comfortable Negative: Not any hot water in the shower and nothing to cook with for the kitchenette. Just had cups and little silverware, no plates or pan to cook with

Acceptable place to spend the night on your way to/from the airport (including the ability to leave a car there relatively cheaply). Although our room was clean, there clearly were a number of minor maintenance issues to be addressed - and we passed areas under heavy construction on the way to our room (i used a stairway rather than the elevator and was walking on plywood walkways over torn up plaster). Getting in & out of the lot was tricky because there had been a lot of snow, and plowing did not appear to be a priority. There is a shuttle van to/from the airport, but we were told they ran until midnight, and when we called shortly before midnight we were told that the driver had already gone home, so we were forced to get an Uber (on a holiday evening, which required a lot of time & $$)

You get what you pay for. The hotel is close to the airport and I was able to get a “shuttle” to the terminal (really just a van ride) but was nice to have. The room itself was pretty beat up. Ancient TVs, all the appliances had broken handles, the hallways smelled horribly, toilet seat had tears in it. It didn’t have literal cockroaches so it wasn’t the worst possible room and the bed was fine. There is also a workout room which was ok. All in all I knew coming in paying a cheap hotel would get me cheap quality rooms and that’s what I got. If I weren’t in Syracuse for more than a night I’d go somewhere else but it’s not the worst hotel I’ve been in.
