Candlewood Suites Knoxville Airport-Alcoa by IHG

We chose this hotel for its convenient location near our job, spacious room with full kitchen, and pet-friendly policy. Those were the only positives. Unfortunately, cleanliness and maintenance were very disappointing. The hallway carpet smelled, the elevator had dog urine that wasn’t cleaned even after we reported it, towels didn’t feel clean, and housekeeping (once a week) was not thorough. Staff were unapproachable, which made it harder to address concerns. WiFi was poor, and “free” laundry but machines were broken. We were supposed to stay for a month but decided to transfer after just one week. Not coming back.

I would so much love to give 5 stars because of the amazing staff and the amenities in the room, but I have to deduct one star because of the noises in the room. The toilet kept refilling and in the process, made a loud whistling sound, and the fridge was very loud as well. Overall, this facility is showing its age and is in need of serious maintenance. But the staff were so extremely friendly and helpful! Can’t say enough about them.

Matt was amazingly helpful on check in and when picking us up from the airport. So kind and patient with helping us find the right place. For those using the shuttle, when you go down the escalators turn left and keep going until you see a door that says Taxi - go through that door! Do not go through the rideshare doors. It’s much quieter over there anyway! As far as the rooms go, they have plenty of amenities and are clean, just dated.

From the moment I entered the hotel, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly ladies at the front desk, their smiles instantly making me feel at home. They expertly guided me through the features of my room, explaining how to use the sleek stove top in the kitchen and pointing out the conveniently located laundry room just down the hall. I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of my room; it was spacious and filled with natural light, exuding fresh and inviting atmosphere. Everything was impeccably clean, enhancing my comfort during the stay. As I enjoyed my time here, I couldn't help but to think of how lovely it would be to return, perhaps with my dog, since the hotel is pet friendly. Near I40 (15-20 minutes) and super close to TYS airport. My room had cosmetic damage from previous guests but was clean and quiet and bed was comfortable. Staff was middle of the road for attention to my needs which weren't difficult.
