Candlewood Suites Glen Allen - Short Pump by IHG

The good is that the location of this Candlewood is in an upscale area with every needed amenity in close proximity. Staff were friendly and helpful so no problem there whatsoever. Our room was definitely dated and in need of a refresh, however. It was clean and served its purpose but the shower stall, countertops, flooring, etc. were all well over a decade old and haven't kept pace with the vibrant nature of surrounding area. One bad thing is that there was a persistent marijuana smell in this hotel. I am not sure what can be done about it but it's not pleasant for those of us who don't smoke.

I had originally left a more negative review but decided to delete it and give a more fair review, as I had said before there are a few things around the hotel that really showed the ages of this building, but they’ve done a really good job keeping it up-to-date and modernized. The rooms are comfortable clean and I really didn’t have any complaints as far as the rooms went. I did have a small issue regarding housekeeping scheduling, but the person I had spoke with, stopped me at the desk recently, and apologized and cleared up the situation. Originally, I wasn’t planning on coming back here, but I think I’ll give this place another chance next time I’m in town. Also, the staff have been friendly and helpful. There’s also tons of restaurants and grocery stores really close by. Plus free gue

We stayed here over Thanksgiving to visit with our daughter. Her apartment was seven minutes away, which made it a perfect location. In addition, the refrigerator with freezer provided plenty of room to keep the food we brought. Most notable, however, was the friendly staff. I felt as if we were coming home each time we left. In addition, the price was great. The only negative was the noise the icemaker in the refrigerator made. I'm not sure if they're all that noisy. Thanks for a wonderful holiday stay.

We've stayed at this hotel twice in the last year and a half. We have been very satisfied with the accommodations both times. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel is very clean, The parking lot seems very well lit and clean, and it feels safe there. There are many restaurants , and lots of shopping venues nearby.

I have stayed here 3 times a year for business due to the value, location, the sense of safety, but especially due to excellent customer service. Karen at the front desk is amazing! Years ago my room did not have a hairdryer. She could not locate one, so loaned me her personal one. Recently I called to make a change to my reservation & she knew exactly who I was when I gave her my name. As I checked in for that stay, she let me know she had reserved a room for me on my preferred floor as occupancy was filling & she wanted me to be where I was most comfortable. It feels so welcoming to be greeted by such a warm & caring person! Thank you, Karen😃
