Customer Reviews
Lovely getaway close to Charlottesville. The lake view room was spacious and the view was great. The bathroom is on the small side with little counter space. The beds were comfortable but worn as one had a noticable dip in the middle. The lake view would be more limited when the trees have leaves. The winter view was very nice. We would definitely stay again. The location in proximity to UVA was fantastic.
We had a good time at this resort. The resort was slow due to after the holidays and it's also January when we visited. The restaurant was good The brunch was really excellent for our company group that took advantage of the breakfast buffet. The service and cleanliness of the resort was great The staff there was excellent. We were able to go on the last night of the Christmas light display it was done very well. Also the pool was heated at 82°, so you can swim outside during the winter.
This resort is perfect for those that want to golf and spend most of their time at the sports complex. There is a spa onsite and one restaurant. If you are looking for any sort of entertainment or anything else to do, you’ll need to go offsite into Charlottesville. I came here based on other reviewers recommendations, and how it was Better than the Omni homestead. I personally did not feel It was better. It was simply more convenient and much cheaper. If you are looking for a more Upscale place, and more to do, this place is not for you. Additionally, there is no mini fridge in the room.
Where to start? The room, smaller than a Hilton Suite hotel to be sure, was barely adequate for the price of $378 Thanksgiving eve and a shocking almost $595 Thanksgiving night. Add taxes, ridiculous "resort fee" and dinner and breakfast you're looking at $1600 for a two night stay here. Yes it was the holiday, and it was crowded. We get that. What was a major problem is barking dogs for hours on end in the rooms nearby. It's a dog-friendly hotel, and we love dogs. Just not people who lock their large dogs in their room while they go out walking around or whatever. And there were a LOT of dogs. So prepare not to get any sleep for your $1000 two night stay at this resort. We also had to call maintenance to come turn the heat on in the room. Boar's Head fancies themself a 4 star resort. The
This was a really relaxing few days. The weather was great so we got out and hiked the trails. The Christmas decorations were nice. The food in The Mill Room was awesome. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
