Appalachian Hotel

We were in the area this past Saturday night and originally did not plan on an overnight in the city. By the time we decided ti do so every hotel we contacted was full for the night with the exception being the Appalation Hotel. The reviews both good and bad for this hotel were all, “1 contribution accts letting me know people have created profiles just to build up and to bad mouth this hotel. I never use the information from a one entry review to sway my decision. Having said that, this was the only hotel in the area that we found to have available rooms so we pretty much had no choice but ti stay here. I must say that this hotel was MUCH nicer than I was expecting. Y s, this an older hotel but it offered us a clean bed, shower, toilet, and sink. 5)3 room was free of any bugs whatsoever.

Hotel room is booked and paid for by company for work reasons. Its a big property struggling with a lot of small limited properties in the area. Rooms show a long life of use and maybe a strained budget. Its not awful but for under $100 it's good. Carlisle looks like Indy - way too many hotels and not a lot of tourism. The front staff are really great and I like that. Nonchlorine bleach is a wonderful standard for linen. I still recommend this property for short, budget friendly stays.

From the outside it looks nice. The lobby is presentable. Gives you the feeling that you're at a nice hotel. The check in was smooth. Once I got to the room I was disappointed. The hall way stinked bad. The tub was nasty, I never seen a tub painted before and the paint was chipping. The paint was chipping on the walls, with mold.The lamp had mold. The sheets were clean thank goodness. I wasn't interested in breakfast here. The rate they charge per night is not worth it, neither is the $100 security deposit. I wont be visiting here again. Everything that looks good isn't good.

Positive: Price Negative: Did not know about the security deposit required, $100 per room, at the time of making reservation. The process at check-in and checkout, along with the information given concerning the release of funds, I provided, was very sketchy, at best.

Stains and weird smell through out the hotel. Breakfast is waffle maker, sketchy looking oranges, sugary cereal, stale bread and yogurt. We stayed there for 3 nights and had to have them fix our room key 5 times. No coffee pot in room and no fresh coffee out. Housekeeping is by request only. Great diner right by the hotel. So that was the best part. My recommendation is find someplace else that doesn't feel like you are going to get bugs and fleas at your stay. Oh and we was in a smoking room with cigarette burns in the blankets. Also the heater was either on full blast or off. Super 8 across the street might be better?
