Wayside Motel

This little motel is a gem! We stayed here for one night due to other google reviews when looking for a place close to the ferry. We didn’t need anything fancy or with a view, and by gosh this place exceeded our expectations. The outside is a little older in appearance, but don’t let that be your impression of the rooms inside. I tend to be very picky about cleanliness and they far exceeded my standards. The room seemed to have fresh paint and a very clean carpet. Even the nooks and crannies of the baseboards and corners were spotless! The bathroom, a single stall shower, seems to be newly renovated and was immaculate. Stayed for 1 night. Room was immaculate. Nice and quiet inside even with the road being right next to the building. Beds were OK for comfort, and bedding was very clean and cozy. Affordable. Dated obviously, but no issues with anything working. Would definitely stay again.

October 21 - 24.|We visited the Wayside again this year and nothing changed...... Still immaculate, well maintained, within walking distance of the Shepler ferry to Mackinac Island and the owners of the Wayside are exactly as I remembered from last year; hospitable, kind, considerate and just great people.|I assure you, you will experience an unforgettable and much appreciated stay at the Wayside.

If you are looking for a clean room in a convenient location with friendly staff - this is your place! This was the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The location was just 2 1/2 blocks to Shepler's which made it easy for us to bike there instead of having to take our car and pay for parking (you could walk there too). Ryan (I apologize if I have the name wrong) was friendly when we checked-in and spent time with directions and restaurant recommendations. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and the room was dark so we could go to sleep early. The only thing that could have been improved would have been a better coffee pot. Simple, done right This motel is simple, but what is does is perfect. There was excellent daily housekeeping. The owner, Ryan, was very friendly and helpful. The location was also really good. The coffee maker, fridge and microwave really helped us out.
