Utica Happy Journey

Locally known as the "HJ Motel," this is the sketchiest choice Utica has to offer. If it burned to the ground tomorrow, it's ratings on cleanliness would skyrocket! 😂

Room smells clean, TV works fine, fridge is operational. Minimal noise from highway outside which is not noticable with AC running which also works well. Friendly staff. Microwave is absent from room but the one in the lobby works great despite being an older unit. Outlets in the bathroom would be nice but are not an absolute necessity. Wifi signal is very strong and unbelievably fast. Nothing is blocked either so streaming movies and television is done in HD easily. Can't beat the price. No evidence of any insect activity present. I would know immediately considering I am blood type "O" and have sensitive skin. Would recommend to friends.

I had stayed here for just under 2 weeks due to a flood. The two owners treated me terrible from the start. I kept getting calls to my room every few days from the owner that I was "banging/making noise" keeping others up when in face it was NOT ME, but the people in the room next to me. The owners eventually called me (I was asleep), and started SCREAMING insults in the phone and to get out... I tried to reason with the two owners, but they literally yell over you, don't let you talk and belittle you. Every night I stayed here I was kept up ALL NIGHT LONG INTO EARLY DAY by the people next door who who clearly getting high/drunk every darn night. It was ridiculous! I found out through many people after the fact, that this motel is where druggies and convicts are placed. Please PLEASE DO NO

I enjoy staying here they treat you like family

Surprisingly, wouldn't guess it from the outside, this place is actually pretty quiet, and if you're on a budget, it is the least expensive place to stay in the area. The owner can be a little rude, but it may just be a language barrier. The rooms are clean, bathroom in my room looked newly remodeled. They do have wifi, and it's a pretty good signal. It really isn't an awful place if you need a spot to rest your head on short notice.
