Holiday Inn Express & Suites Utica by IHG

We travel to Utica at least one a year to see family. We have stayed in many local hotels in Utica and along the east coast. This year we stayed here for Thanksgiving. This stay has by far been one of the best hotel experiences we have had in a long time. Very friendly and generous staff who have been more than willing to help with whatever we have needed from forgotten toiletries to batteries for kids toys. All shifts of the front desk staff were amazing and housekeeping was so helpful and ready with offers of fresh towels and trash emptying even when we declined room cleaning. We haven’t stayed in a Holiday Inn for a long time because we are rewards members of another hotel chain, but this will definitely not be the last time. I called the front desk as I would be very late to check in thus adding stress to my already hectic workday. I wish I would’ve gotten the woman’s name who assisted to me as she was excellent, friendly, human and intelligent. She asked if she’d like her to do advance check-in for me so I could go right to my room and rest. Upon arrival she was still at the desk and had recollection of our conversation and already had keys in hand. The sum total of my check-in couldn’t have lasted 2 minutes. Not only was she efficient but also displayed sincere hospitality, an art sadly lacking in the “hospitality industry”. Room was basic but clean. Really, who cares though when you’re greeted that warmly.

My experience with the hotel management (Peter) was not great at all. I went to get breakfast with my 14yo son in the dining area of the hotel around 7am. At that time I used the remote that was left under the TV to change the channel to Fox news being my son and I were the only people there having breakfast until our group of about 30 people joined soon after. This TV was used by us the night before without issue. Thats when Peter came in and told me I CAN NOT watch a news station and we can only watch the weather. I was very taken back by this and I asked why is the remote left under the TV for guests if we can't watch what we want? His response was we have to many issues with news stations being on. Jeep in mind it was only my son and I at that time and our group joined us shortly after

Positive: My arrival time was great because we were early check-in without being charged extra. I was greeted with the best enthusiastic hotel employee ever. My sister and I were given treats and treated as Queens. I will stay at this hotel again. Negative: I had no problems with anything.

We felt welcomed the moment we walked through the doors thanks to Peter who checked us in very efficiently! He was so kind & courteous & had a great sense of humor. Our room was very clean as was the laundry area. Enjoyed the pancakes in the morning & watching the cool machine that made them. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
