Tru by Hilton Smithfield I-95

What an unfortunate experience—especially because the front desk staff were truly wonderful. Doug, as well as the young lady working the next shift, were friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They were the best part of this hotel. Unfortunately, the condition of the rooms was unacceptable. We reserved three rooms for our stay. Upon entering mine, after being on the road all night, I went to use the restroom and immediately noticed that the toilet had not been properly cleaned. When I lifted the lid, there were visible splatters around the upper rim of the bowl—clear evidence that the previous guest had been ill, and housekeeping had not addressed it. The issues didn’t stop there. The top sheets and comforters in all all three rooms had noticeable yellow and brown stains. In one room,

The Tru by Hilton Smithfield I-95 is an excellent choice for your next stay! ||The hotel is new and well-designed—I absolutely love the style and interiors of the Tru brand, especially the emphasis on communal gathering in the lobby areas, where several groups of guests were joined together watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate! ||My room was very comfortable, with a modern design—and clean! Positive: "" Negative: Overall, the room met the basic. It was clean. Tru is a fairly new hotel so I was disappointed to see the bathroom wall paper coming off the wall and bathroom door would not shut properly.

My room was 1 king bed in the 4th floor. The room was nice, but small. There was maybe 2 feet of space around the bed for walking and that was the entire room. There was a little desk area and a bench under the TV. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious.

I normally stay at this location when I go to North Carolina to visit family however I’d rather pay a higher price and stay at one of the other local hotels. My last visit in October was perfectly fine until the housekeeping person completely ignored the do not disturb sign on the door and entered my hotel room anyway on the second day of my visit when I had not asked for any housekeeping whatsoever. The visit before that the do not disturb sign was also ignored and multiple items were either thrown away or taken. That was reported to management and I had to be refunded for the multiple personal items that were disrespectfully discarded or stolen from my room. This last visit will be my last time ever booking a room there because apparently your privacy is not acknowledged at all when you
