This is not a four star hotel, it’s more of a three star and the third star is dangling. The fitness room is windowless and locked in the year 1995. No pool or hot tub. Toiletries are dispensed from a thirty year old vending machine and poorly stocked. The room has weird attributes, such as marble floors and showers mixed with ancient wallpaper commonly found in Super 8 motels. Sink space is nil since this is a historically repurposed property. The restaurant was fine, bed was fine and shower was good. It’s just not a four star hotel. The Hilton down the street was definitely deserving of a four star rating and yet it’s three stars…I just don’t get it.
Rooms here aren't huge, but big enough for 1-2 people and are seemingly recently renovated, even though the building itself has a nice historic charm. However, I did have some housekeeping issues, which were resolved after I had been gone for a day. There were also some noise issues, one with hearing other rooms doors opening and closing and two with a very loud starting and stopping thunk. It is located right in downtown San Jose, but there isn't a good drop off and pick up point, so getting a ride here can be awkward.
Terrible Experience – Not Honest, Safety Concern||||I stayed at The Westin San Jose because the Marriott across the street was not available. The property itself is quite dated—featuring old carpets, small rooms, and outdated TVs lacking streaming features. They did “upgrade” me to a room with a view, but it was just overlooking the street and distant mountains.||||The real problem started on my second day. When I returned to my room, I found one of my earrings damaged on the nightstand. It was a loop earring with pearl beads—broken metal, sharp edges, and several missing pieces. The next morning, I even found another bead under the nightstand, which made me suspect housekeeping had dropped it and accidentally run a vacuum over it, causing the break and sucking up some parts.||||When I rep
Positive: Front desk staff were nice, room was mostly quiet. bed was decent Negative: Expensive Valet, not clear if expect extra tip. should have a sign no tip required, charge $50/night. maids very rude, kept knocking on door the morning of checkout when they could see i had not yet checked out. bed seemed smaller than queen
The price of this hotel far exceeds what you get. First of all, expect to pay for WiFi if more than one person wants to use it; for almost $200 a night that type of thing should just be available. Staff were condescending, and they mislead you about breakfast - there is no breakfast served here. You’re better off staying somewhere else for the price!
