It's all about expectations, guys. I read reviews ahead of time, so I knew what I was getting into - I stayed 3 nights in December, 2025. Seriously, where else are you going to find accommodation for < $50/night within walking distance of UCSF? And this place could actually be a lot worse than it is; this is a family-run business - the family lives on site - they could let in every person who wanted to turn a trick or shoot up who shows up at their door for an extra $50, but they don't and that keeps it clean and nice for the rest of us. Pros: - Yes it's run-down, but this place has character. - Excellent public transportation access and within walking distance of numerous restaurants, cafes, a Walgreens, supermarket and UCSF- Mission Bay. - The room and shared bathroom were always immac
It’s an old hotel .. there is no stairs … the room which I stayed was next to the road and it is very noisy with traffic flowing sound. It was very hot as well as it as a ceiling fan only … the washroom was clean and the bar downstairs is good … There is no luggage storage option
Positive: Nothing Negative: They did not change towels or provided change of bedsheets in 3 days. Bathrooms are located outside of the bedroom and hotel is located in a bad area.
I stayed at this hotel for one night with my girlfriend. The room, the bedding, and the shared bathroom and toilets were clean. However, the hotel’s windows are very poorly insulated: the room was quite cold, you could feel the cold air coming through when you placed your hand near the window, and you could hear all the noise from outside almost as if there were no window at all. The small heater in the room was clearly not powerful enough to warm the space. It’s a shame, because the building is nice and has potential, but the window insulation really needs to be redone. It’s fine for a one-night stay if you’re young and not expecting much, but I would avoid it if you’re looking for something a bit higher-end.
The place is probably fine for young solo traveling backpackers who just want a place to sleep. The hotel is in an historic building. The staff are kind and do what they can to help guests. The rooms and shared bathrooms are actually kept pretty clean, and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable my bed was. The downsides: the hotel is on top of a bar and next door to another bar. Both venues do live music several times a week, and you can hear EVERYTHING like your own private rock show. They do seem to quiet down by 10:30 during the week and 12:30 on weekends, but good luck trying to get any sleep before that. Plus, the hotel location on a busy street makes for plenty of city noises from passing cars, loud drunk people, and homeless people arguing with the air. In short, you get wha
