The Marlo Hotel

I had a fantastic stay at The Marlo. Such a cute property with a lovely garden and courtyard, conveniently located within a few blocks to downtown Solvang. The rooms are very well decorated and the bed was super comfortable. It was so quiet, I slept like a baby and didn’t hear a single neighbor all night. And as a side note, I’m very sensitive to fragrance and cleaning products, and whatever they use was undetectable. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay there again.

After a long grueling road trip and a quick dinner we arrived at The Marlo hoping to take a relaxing, well deserved shower and then early to bed for the next day's second half of a long long drive. We were greeted with NO HOT WATER and NO (working) WiFi. After subsequently calling in several times, I was finally (and apologetically) assured that a one-half refund was forthcoming (just wait a few days for processing). Two weeks later - no refund. How much is a room with no hot water or WiFi worth? Unless you're truly desperate - nothing. A full refund would be appropriate, not half. They blamed the lack of hot water and WiFi on a power outage, but knowing what the result would be, no attempt was made to reset the electrical until after we checked out.

Our first time here and won’t be our last! The manager was very sweet and made us feel very welcomed! This hotel was very quiet and quant! Walking distance to all shops and dinning. The patio area of the hotel was so relaxing with an amazing ambiance and fun lawn games. Rooms were very clean! Our only complaint was the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend bringing some sort of cushion if you don’t like a rock hard bed. Other than that we loved every part of this very quaint and relaxing hotel! I hope they keep the charm this place has.

I absolutely loved this place! One of the highlights for me is many of the places to stay in Solvang are on the main road. This one is off the side but still you can walk to everything in town you just don’t get all the street noise it was perfect. My husband and I loved the beautiful views as well and the room was decorated just beautifully. I was surprised there was no fitness center or hot tub or amenities like that but the town has a quiet lifestyle and it was relaxing. The staff were all very friendly. It’s worth noting the mattress is very very firm, but the pillows were nice. The bottom sheet on our bed bunched up and felt a little weird but the room was still comfortable.
