The Kahler Grand Hotel

Room was nice, king bed was comfortable but the pillows were way too small. Shower was fine ,plenty of hot water, but hardly any water pressure in the sink. Lord Essex restaurant was very nice, food was excellent and priced reasonable. Ruth Chris restaurant was ridiculously speedy! Best feature for us was the subway system between the hotel and hospital, a 5 min walk from hotel to the 10th floor of the Charlton Bldg, 3 min to the Gonda Bldg. Didn’t need to move the car for 2days, although parking was a little pricey!

I've been a regular Kahler customer for some time now as I travel from Texas to the MAYO Clinic every 6 weeks. On 01-27-26 and again on 02-09-26 I received coupons from Kahler Grand offering an 18% discount if I completed a stay with them by 02-28-26 (email coupons attached). Since that lined up with my next stay (02-19-26 thru 02-25-26) I booked my next stay with the front desk directly and informed them of the coupon. Upon checkout on the 25th I was informed by Ben (front desk clerk) that he could only apply a 3% discount and directed me to the Front Office Manager (Lauren Chattman). Unfortunately she was unavailable but I was persistent until I finally reached her several days later. The first problem was getting to the hotel…the front is completely blocked by construction and we had to unload in front of a restaurant near the side door the hotel. They did offer valet parking but it was $30 per day. We had an accessible king room. When I entered it was 78 degree in the room. The air conditioner was broken so we notified the front desk. An hour later a maintenance guy came and poked around with a screwdriver and offered to open the window for us, then left. I went to take a shower and I realized at the end there were no towels. Only two tiny hand towels! My husband went down to the front desk and asked for towels. They said someone would bring them right up. 15 minutes later…no towels. My husband called down and asked about the towels. They told him it would be 10 minut

Positive: It's location to my appointments. Negative: Couldn't get into my room on the initial entry. I was on the 7th floor and I had to go back to the front desk to let them know my key didn't work. I was tired from my drive, but eventually gained entry into my room.

Kahler Grand is immediately across the street from Mayo and is integrated into the downtown tunnel system. From my room I took the elevator from the eight floor directly into the tunnels and could access the entire Mayo Campus. The tunnels access other hotels, shoping, restaurants, theatre. coffee etc. Good thing , during my January stay it reached -18 degrees outside and there was plenty of fresh snow...avoided that whole thing for my week there. No Ubers needed. The room was a little on the smaller side but nothing objectionable. It was modern and tastefully done, very clean, well kept and comfortable.
