The nightly rate was very affordable and the hotel and location felt safe. Clean, spacious room with a great location. The room was large and well maintained, with a coffee machine, mini fridge, and a walk-in closet. Bonus - mini desk, fast WiFi, and a bit of old San Francisco charm. There’s no housekeeping service, but overall it’s great value for the price. Note to light sleepers: My room was on the 7th floor facing Powell street - the trolly did not bother me.
The room was surprisingly big, clean enough, even had a water boiler, coffee, tea etc. Perfect location close to Union Square between the square and the BART station, felt relatively safe at night too. Check-in across the street was very quick, and check-out even easier since you only have to drop off the card in the lobby downstairs. I can't relate to the other comments on here, the experience was frankly great, especially considering the attractive price. As long as you don't stay more than a few days there shouldn't be any issue with not getting fresh towels etc.
So check-in was easy although it was at a hotel across the street. Front desk staff were pleasant and genuinely helpful. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Had a microwave on the second floor we could use to heat up food but no mini fridge. Price was good for the first two nights of my stay but went up considerably for a convention that was in town so I had to switch hotels. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again
Location is excellent- located at the very city center that is accessible or near the famous tourist spots. However, downside is The Herbert Hotel doesn’t have a front desk; you still need to check in and out of their sister hotel - Hotel Stanford. There was this instance that my room card didn’t work so I need to go all the way their sister hotel. Rooms were clean. I recommend The Herbert Hotel! :)
Okay, I know there are a bunch of bad reviews about this hotel. I was worried before I even booked it, and it was also my only affordable option but it meets my expectations. The room was clean and comfy, the location is perfect, and you can literally walk or take the bus with no problem. I paid around $500 for 5 nights, and every penny was worth it. The room gives you that NYC vibe, which I love. On the other hand, there are some homeless people around (not many, but still), which is something normal in the city. I noticed at night while walking around that it’s just part of the city life. The building has its own security system, so there’s nothing to worry about. Overall, I loved staying here and would recommend it to anyone! They’re always sending you texts to check on you before and
