The European Hostel

Do not go here. It has bad reviews for legitimate reasons. I learned a life lesson to look deeper than the price tag. The staff is simply horrible. Both the accociate and the owner. The irronic reality is that is the only real problem. They have a rule against using your own blankets, and don't allow you to bring guests to your room, and ask you clean your dishes in the kitchen. This actually makes sense, it's not an upscale join, people with little money can bring in bugs. Not having guests is a safety issue, and of course clean your dishes. HOWEVER. I cannot put into text how disrespectfully the staff spoke to me in all of my interactions with them. I cannot remember a time in my life I have received worse customer care. The manner they communicated these rules was nothing less than acid

The condition of the hostel was below an acceptable standard. There were visible holes in the ceiling, mould, dirt and the overall cleanliness suggested the premises had not been properly maintained for some time. While I do not expect luxury from a hostel, I do expect a clean and functional environment. The kitchen was unclean and had multiple written notices stating that food would be discarded every 24 hours. My initial interaction with the owner was also concerning. A booking error occurred because the third party platform did not disclose any age related house rules. I later learned the hostel applies an 18 to 30 policy. I am 32 and would not have booked had this requirement been clearly stated. Despite this, the owner reacted in a hostile manner, threatened to cancel my stay and ret

Positive: the rooftop was spectacular ..near civic center...medium sized..homey cabin ...creepy and closed doors too much..common area with sofa and kitchen..seems homey..from a different time ...still functioning..not that they were explaining it...it's a hotel. Negative: not sure about the front desk...u could meet others but im not sure why they don't want to talk about what topics...on a side street near civic center...

Simple, convenient accommodations in a quiet, clean hostel. A great value in a central location. The rooms and common areas are clean and well-maintained. The manager is welcoming and helpful. Very close to transit, so it’s easy to get around.

This place should be shut down by the city... SO unhygienic, exploitative, RUDE, and sketchy. We had a fight with the owner cause our friend had to use the bathroom as we were checking out. I'm usually pretty easy going but this "establishment" crossed so many lines. I'm genuinely surprised they're still open. We came here cause it was super cheap but left wishing we'd spent more money.
