The Butler Hotel

My new favorite place in SLO. Bed was fantastic, indoor and outdoor seating areas were great. Wine in the evening and coffee and light breakfast in the morning if you need something quick, free parking, and close to downtown. Has the homey feel of an AirBNB. If you don't feel you need all the extras of a hotel (gym, concierge, restaurant, etc.), it's perfect. (Rooms at the front have a bit more street noise, just in case you're sensitive to that.) I'll definitely be back.

Clean modern hotel with nice mid-century decor. I enjoyed the ease of the contactless check-in. They even let us check-in several hours early which was nice because we had our bags with us. It's in a pretty convenient location, about a 15 minute walk to downtown and it has it's own private parking lot for free. The room was on the smaller side, but everything was new and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls were thin though and you could hear everyone in the common area. I liked the convenience of the self serve coffee area with an option of a french press or several teas. The breakfast could use some improvement though, for the price of the hotel a better spread was expected. It would have been nice to have some dairy-free milk or creamer options. Be aware that this property is physically located as close as it can be to a busy intersection. There is no indication on the room descriptions as to which rooms are in the front and which are in the rear, I’d recommend trying to choose a rear facing room. We stayed in the Jackson pollock room which turned out to be on the corner of California and Monterey with only a sidewalk’s distance separating you from cars. While they’ve made efforts to double pane the windows, the traffic noise is extremely loud. (Loud music from passing cars, loud mufflers, etc). There was annoying rattling from an air conditioner as well. Made it really hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. There’s zero privacy in the front rooms from cars and pedestrians, so we kept the blackout drapes fully closed when in the roo

We loved our stay at The Butler! Picked as is dog friendly, and rooms are nice. More of the adult crowd - parking is a bit tight, & limited to first come. There’s some coffee spots and food selections within walking distance, but will probably want a car to go downtown. Nice palette and enjoyed the complimentary wine and desserts!

We had an excellent stay! Well appointed rooms, convenient check in, shops in walking distance, lovely shared spaces.
