Svendsgaard's Danish Lodge Americas Best Value Inn

Dec 24, 2025|I gave a three based on only one night stay and the room. First off, the room appeared to be recently redone in regards to paint, floor, bathroom, etc. Floor appeared to be what is called Luxury Vinyl Plank and was well done. The bathroom and the painting job must have gone to the lowest of the low bids. Although at a glance it looked fine, you could see bad patch jobs here and there. What really was obviously missed for some odd reason was the inside/room side of the entry door. Paint was mismatched, slopped over the locks, and just plain not even painted at the same time as the room. ​Or ever for a few years or more. This is our favorite place to stay. Have stayed here since about 1969. It's centrally located...leave your car in the parking lot & walk to most of the shops & restaurants. Though the rooms are older they are clean & have all of the amenities...there are also a variety of types & sizes to choose from. Danish pastries & coffee in the lobby every morning. Chomps, great places to eat AND get coffee/baked goods, are right across the street. I would say to call Svendsgaards directly for their best prices.

This hotel is in a Great Location! Can literally walk to the restaurants, boutiques & stores which I loved! Saves time looking for a place to park! Looks so charming on the outside but could definitely use a little renovation on the inside. They need to spend some money on new upgrades, like on new tile flooring, new carpet, etc. (It is outdated.) Has some great perks, like having a gas fireplace 🔥 which heats up the room pretty quickly & adds some ambiance. The jacuzzi & the pool are very nice & the rooms had a very nice view looking into the courtyard. My room was upstairs which I liked even though it faced the street— gave me more privacy. Could open the curtains & no one would be looking in… Very Safe! Family & Pet Friendly!

Positive: Staff were very friendly, professional, and accommodating. Negative: Hotel was very dated, built in 1969. Looked as if nothing has changed since then, and not in a cool way. Site reads that hotel was updated in 2000. Ants and a strong urine smell in the restroom. OK just sleep and leave, but I wouldn’t bring family.

The reason I booked this was the location. The location is great but the facilities are dirty.||Old is fine, dirty is not. ||The room was filthy. The hallways were also really dirty. It seems like maybe they only wipe down the toilet/sink/shower and change the linens.||Everything is also old… which is totally fine! I like antique and quaint. It is the upkeep that is a major issue.||Finally, it was raining and we had two major leaks in our room. I spoke with the front desk but they didn’t do anything. We had to put trash cans to catch the rain. There was a leak in the hall right outside our door so the rug inside our room for about 10 feet was wet the entire stay.
