Super 8 by Wyndham Iowa City/Coralville

More or less a spur of the moment stay. Had a doctor's appointment at the university hospital on a Monday morning and decided to spend the weekend so I could visit the Amana colonies nearby. Arrived late at night Friday after eating dinner at the colonies because of the Google maps listed price. Checked in around 10 PM fairly easily and quickly (staff was assisting another resident when I arrived, quickly apologized when she saw I was there). Free WiFi which permitted me to connect my Roku to the TV and use my tablet to access my email and various social media platforms. They had a contentious breakfast available, but by the time I woke up in the morning it had pretty much been gone through leaving me with few choices. I am not a frequent traveler. I stayed here by myself for a University of Iowa family weekend. I booked very late and didn't have many choices in the area. That being said, paying over $550 for a 2 night stay at this place seemed like highway robbery. They clearly jacked up the price to gouge the college families. This place is VERY dated. The bathroom towels were paper thin and the shower was on the low-flow side. I should have lowered my expectations. I don't think this hotel has seen renovations in 15-20 years. Disappointing.

The staff was very accommodating and our room was very clean. Only negative thing is that the selection for the Continental Breakfast could have been better. We stayed Thursday, October 9 and checked out Saturday, October 11th.

Not upscale. Smells. Room upstairs smells like cat piss so we gonna transferred to the room right above. Not safe. Also, if tou want comfortable sheets or blanket, bring your own. No matter what the ac was turned down to it was still so humid.

Positive: "" Negative: The toilet was too low and seat needs to be tightened. East handicapped ramp needs to be replaced. Pillows were too high and made my neck hurt.
