I come down from Chicago to the keys once a month, flying in and out of Lauderdale so I spend a Sunday night in a local hotel before catching the early bird flight to Chicago Monday. This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel (this time i was in room 13-which had a weird access method) and all 3 stays have been basic and pleasant, 2 of the stays were in remodeled rooms, one was not. ||The good: I check for bedbugs (I travel a LOT) and found none here, and no other bugs either. The room had been remodeled-euro style, and some of the . The staff were very friendly and accommodating when our first room smelled like smoke, they quickly moved us into another and apologized for the last guest smoking against their rules. The rooms themselves are adequate, and the beds were comfortable and clean. The rooms are definitely a bit outdated and seem to have been remodeled on the cheap, but for the ~$50 we paid it did the job for a night!

This place was seriously great, especially for the price. All I needed was a clean, simple place to stay for the night (had a cruise the next morning) and I got what I came for. Dave, the owner, was really cool and helpful. He seemed like a well-traveled guy with lots of knowledge and we had a very enjoyable conversation. The room was very clean and newly renovated. The showers are awesome, too, with multiple shower-heads and lots of room. I walked around a decent bit and everywhere else around there seemed kind of dumpy, so I feel confident in saying that this was the best option anywhere in that area. Highly recommended!
