Sonesta Select Detroit Auburn Hills

I had a wonderful stay at Sonesta Select Detroit Auburn Hills. Owner Julian Jarbo went above and beyond to accommodate my whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. When I mentioned I’m vegan, he personally ensured I received a fresh, beautifully prepared plant-based breakfast instead of the standard option. The vegetables were vibrant, delicious, and thoughtfully presented—it truly made my morning special. The room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Soft, spotless towels, a relaxing shower with great water pressure, a small refrigerator, pillows that were actually comfortable (flat enough to sleep on!), and dreamy beds made for a restful stay. Exceptional hospitality and genuine attention to detail. I would gladly stay here again.

Run, do not walk away from this dump. Family member was put in the wrong room and the hotel tried to tell us they had no other rooms. The person working at the front desk wore a scraggy tshirt and work out pants. When they finally understood their mistake we had to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes to get into our room. The room did not have sheets, pillows or blankets for the pullout (stained) couch, so when I called to the front desk for them..I was told he was too busy to get them and I should come down and pick them up myself. When I did I was told he didn't have any extra pillows, too bad! The TV in my bedroom did not work and to make it worse, the showerhead was missing and it was basically a hose you had to take a shower with.

Positive: Clean, feels newish. Breakfast was nice. Starbucks coffee was good. Negative: Staff on the day we arrived was weird. He was wearing a T-shirt. No uniform or nice shirt. Just a random green T-shirt. He also seemed to lack an awareness of social norms. At one point it looked like he might be picking his nose while I was talking.

It was my first time there. It is very basic and I expected more, although it was pretty inexpensive so maybe I shouldn't have. There was no hand soap for the bathroom sink which I found odd. Breakfast was OK. I appreciated the hot food offerings.

Was in town attending a funeral and stayed here for 2 nights. Selected the hotel because another family member was staying here. While it’s not an upscale property, it was very affordable booking directly from their website. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The hotel offered free Starbucks coffee and a hot breakfast starting around 5:30am which was convenient. There was a nice lobby and sitting area with a fireplace and several TVs. The hotel offered a small fitness room and an indoor pool which was closed during my visit. Several drawback’s were no housekeeping (offered refresh only), no complimentary bottled water, tv connection was spotty, and the keycards routinely didn’t work and needed to be replaced. Overall a good property for the price. Very nice sales manager
