Our second time here - Thanksgiving weekend. Great for big families - we had the Fox Den cabin: 3 bedroom, 2 bath with full kitchen AND washer/dryer. Creek was our view and our sound track. Cabin could easily fit 8; our second group was in the Bear and was cozy. General store with good supplies and friendly staff living on site. Big hookups and tent spaces too. Charming downtown and the Appalachian Trail close by. Fish off the bridge or tubing in warm weather - relaxing at its best.
We booked from August 17 - 24 and left August 21. We were very disappointed in Smoky Mountain Campground. The trash can allocated to our site was full when we arrived as apparently garbage is not collected over a weekend. The bathroom facilities were not clean at all. Fortunately, we do not need to use them, but we always check them at every campground that has them, as we determine how a campground is run in terms of the cleanliness of bathrooms. The campground has no visual appeal whatsoever. We will not return.
We had a fantastic stay at Smokey Mountain Campground! The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve ever met and made us feel right at home. Site 12 was absolutely beautiful—nestled by Deep Creek with incredible sounds and views that made the whole experience unforgettable. The general store was well stocked with everything we needed, and the ice cream selection was a sweet bonus after a day outdoors. We’ll definitely be back!
Great location along Deep Creek. Friendly and helpful staff. The best sites are located on the river. There is sufficient access for tubing. The place is rustic. The pads are nice clean level gravel. The people I spoke with at the campground have been returning for years.
Zach was very accommodating to help us during the off season. Very clean, safe and close to excellent hiking trail. We enjoyed our stay!
