Smith Family Garden Luau

The Smith Family Luau is a beautiful tribute to Hawaii, its culture, and the rich history of its people and all those who have come before. I've attended other luaus, and while they're all special, the one at the Smith Gardens is incredibly poignant, fun, action packed, with food so delicious and varied, and just my absolute favorite for so many reasons... Mostly because there's such a feeling of warmth and awe and magic. The property itself is breathtaking... Be sure to come early and allow yourself extra time to explore the grounds. The Smith family was so hospitable, kindly welcoming everyone, and it felt like we were all being invited into a tutu's home. Thank you to everyone who hosted the luau and for the Smith family and team's hospitality.

A wonderful experience of tradition, culture, lovely gardens (with plenty of photo opportunities), great food (went back for seconds) and finished with some coconut cake. Mai Tai drinks were delicious. Learned the Hukilau dance (super fun!) and the evening show with incredibly talented dancers and live music/singing was a marvelous way to top off a fun time for all. Would definitely recommend to others. Smith Family hospitality is superb! Thank you for a memorable evening!

The Smith Family Garden Luau is a must for any trip to Kauai. The garden is absolutely beautiful, I wish you had more time to explore and enjoy it! The food is buffet style and is pretty good, but you are definitely here for the atmosphere, the Hawaiian music and stories. The show after dinner explaining the history of Hawaii and showing off different dances of the various cultures is really entertaining. We have been to Kauai twice and each time we have gone to the Smith Family Garden Luau. The riverboat tour that is before the Luau is a fun way to travel down the river to a beautiful garden walk that leads to a waterfall is worth doing at least once.

A family-style, home cooked buffet feeding about 100-150 guests. Start visit with a photo opportunity, guided tour of the gorgeous property and some free time to explore and claim seating (open seating for small groups). Learned about the family history and significance of the Imu ceremony, followed by dinner with entertainment (open bar) and finally a spectacular show that beautifully showcases the culture of Hawaii.

Compared to many expensive, resort-run lu'aus, I'd say this one is a gem in the rough. The price is reasonable, the place family-owned and run, the atmosphere at dinner casual and fun, the process down-to-earth and genuine. The garden and facility could use some update and clean-up, again, it's a gem in the rough.
