Pono Kai Resort

Okay so full transparency, I am an owner here what they call their mini suites, which is basically a one bedroom as a small Lanai. There are no ocean views from those units to garden view. Having said that, I do pay for the upgrade to get into a true true one-bedroom or a two bedroom every time we stayed. Ponokai is literally right on the ocean. There is a small Beach there. Sometimes a little more of a a larger Beach depending on the tide and the time of year. Absolutely gorgeous fuse get to watch a sunrise every single morning. The walk to Kapa'a Is really short, and amazing food trucks are right around the corner. We reserved four units for one week. The hotel itself was a pleasant experience. The customer service, on the other hand, was not. ||The location is convenient, with easy access to nearby shops, restaurants, and food trucks. The property was generally clean and quiet. The walking trail along the shore provided a peaceful walk every day. ||This was an older resort. While the rooms were decent. Some of the rooms didn't come with AC unit. They had been updated, but there were still visible signs of wear and tear. The kitchens were fully stocked with essential items, which was helpful for our stay. Highly recommend, big spacious rooms with good layout. You still got a strong Wi-Fi with modern TVs with all the gizmos. Maid service when you want it. Full kitchens of course which make all the difference to me and my family. Property is beautiful, good swimming pool, nothing special about it it's good and there a nice hot tub. Facility grounds have putting greens, croquet, bocce, hammocks, barbecues, all kinds of nice amenities, gorgeous koi pond and gardening, friendly service. Close proximity to airport and other stuff. My family and I will very likely be going back.

We stayed here the first week of February and had a great time. The unit we had was through vrbo but the resort personnel treat everyone the same. We had use of all the amenities. The location of Pono Kai is perfect in many ways. The old town shops are right there, and there is an ocean side paved path that crosses between the resort and beach that stretches for 7 miles.

We really enjoyed our oceanfront unit and the location. We walked into Kapaa every day, sometimes several times a day for shopping, dining, massages, malasadas, etc. The multi-use path was really nice along the beach. We saw humpback whales from our lanai a couple of times. There's lots of parking. The units are older but clean, well maintained, as are the grounds and facilities.
