Sleep Inn Richmond South

This was as poor a hotel experience I have had at a reputable hotel. I am a military officer who booked a night at the military rate. Bottom line, this is not a property that is up to the standards of acceptable military lodging. I will be recommending that this property be removed from any further consideration for active duty, national guard, or retired veterans. Why? My greeting by the desk clerk was neither friendly nor inviting. I felt as though checking in was putting him out. Next, my room was in significant disrepair. There were cigarette burns on the comforter (in a non-smoking hotel), The bathroom had a broken towel bar which created holes in the shower door. On a recent road trip, we stayed at four hotels. The room in the Sleep Inn was the best decorated room. The bedspread was striking, but tasteful. |We enjoyed the hot waffles in the breakfast- so easy and tasty. |The only item which could be corrected was that the clock was still on Standard Time and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.|The price we were charged as Choice Privilege members was a great value.

Two large men were fighting in the fast food establishment next door. When I finished eating and returned to the lobby, they were in the lobby talking to the gentleman st the front desk. I was afraid to walk by them. A lady who took my order at the fast food establishment walked me back to this hotel and said it was a dangerous neighborhood. My room was sufficient and the front desk fella was kind and welcoming.

The room was in desperate need of repair. The shower door had a hole in it from the towel bar being ripped off. The toilet paper roll was on the floor because the holder was broken. The bed was concave and worn. The fridge worked. The entire place reeked of weed.

To start with, the person who checked us in was not pleasant and we had to call back to him upon arrival (was in back room area). The room was damp and smelled bad. The furniture was outdated and worn. There was very little offered for breakfast. It smelled like marijuana right outside the doors and in the lobby.
