Sleep Inn Johnstown - Richland Town Center

I can't say enough about the service we received during our stay. From assisting us with an early check-in to front desk friendliness to explaining their pet policy, the service was excellent. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the hotel is under renovations, but our room was clean and the hotel was quiet in the morning. I didn't realize that the room wouldn't be carpeted, which could have been a problem for our dog, but I understood the why with it being a dog-friendly hotel. Just something to be aware of. We would definitely stay here again!

This was so disappointing. It’s as though management and staff put little to no thought into the actual details of the customers’ stay, just keeping up appearances as the husk of this hotel gets renovated (and hopefully improved). Barring the fact that the hallway outside my room was being painted, with materials and dirty carpet all over, let’s look at some of the details (photos provided), from the poor maintenance to the health code violations:||1. Entered the room to the sound of a leaky toilet. I fixed it with a flush, but still.|2. The room was oddly cold and drafty. It took me time to figure out why: the window was ‘closed’ but not actually shut and locked, allowing cold air and sound to come in. The room is dirty and I feel like I'm going to need a tetanus shot. To be fair they are undergoing renovations. Taking that into consideration, there is no excuse for dirty walls, floors! Rooms not painted ok. A ceiling with water damage, no problem. I don't need it to look perfect. Also, they don't provide pillows. The pillows are 20x20 throw size. This is definitely a place to come for a week long business trip, or long stay. They have an apartment size fridge and a small pub sink to do dishes. The young man working the front desk was great. Overall, adequate. Letting guests know prior to arrival about the elevator not in service would have provided other options. I learned it was inoperable for a week prior to arrival. Although, help was offered with luggage, walking 3 flights of stairs was an inconvenience. Some type of discount or perk should have been offered to guests. Especially, when key card was deactivated upon room entry and had to return to 1st floor and then walk back. Also, the stairwell had a rancid odor that permeated the entire stairwell. Carpet fresh deodorizer should help with this.

It’s hard to give an accurate review of this place because it is under renovation. My room was nice, it had all been updated, except for all the trim (badly needs to be replaced) and the wall switch plates. I would definitely stay here again, the location was awesome, close to lots of shops.
