Seal Rock Inn

I booked a room, Sea View 304) and while it was large and had a partial view of ocean beach, it was disappointing. It was definitely not worth the price of $295. Upon walking inside our room, I noticed a very strong musty odor that was offensive. I didn’t know if I could stay in there but I didn’t have much choice so I dealt with it. It looked pretty clean to their defense, except the curtains looked like they haven’t been cleaned in years… they were black with dirt on the bottom which made me wonder about other things. The shower was a mere trickle and there were no hooks in the bathroom. The bed had a very uncomfortable mattress that was the softest mattress I’ve ever slept on and my friend and I had backaches in the morning. Really fun and comfortable with activities for the whole family. Unreal location with amazing views. The rooms are beyond spacious with excellent finishes and the entire property is extremely well maintained. The restaurant is excellent with a great selection of meals for the whole family.

Staying here was one of the best choices I made when visiting SF. We had to see someone at the VA for a few days and the location is awesome. We did one night just in case, but stayed all 3 nights after seeing the room. We added on 2 nights and the front desk people will move all our stuff for us to the new room. Great service . Prices are decent, especially for this city, and there's onsite free parking. The mood in the area is very relaxed, family friendly. Our room faces west and the ocean view is a bonus. This is our new go to everytime we're here. If you're in doubt like I was, stay here, it's great.

We had a couple of issues in the room (water pressure in the shower) and the TV cable would keep dropping the channel we were looking at (static), but it is an older Hotel. Room was very big (so we could entertain some friends that came by)...We like the location for ourselves, since there is Sutro Heights Park right next door (Plus the Cliff House & Lands End area). The restaurant downstairs has opened now (Breakfast& Lunch) daily, and for dinner also toward the weekend. Also....parking is free (a big perk in SF), and the 38 Geary bus stops right in front (end of the line). There is also some history regarding this place if you are a reader of books......

Had a great stay here! Staff was helpful and fantastic with easy check-in. Loved the vintage feel, yet everything was freshly painted and clean. Surprisingly large room with bar sink and fridge. The elevated inner courtyard is great for enjoying the fresh air, complete with a pingpong table. Beds were fantastic and made me want to fall asleep. There's only a little noise bleed from an adjoining door if you have a neighbor who is on the noisy side, but nothing was really loud after quiet hours. Windows were well insulated and street noise was minimal. Parking was easy, though there isn't a gate so be sure to take your stuff with you. Loved that the windows open for a cool cross breeze. This place has its own charm, and we will happily stay again when we come back to SF.
