Sands Inn & Suites

I stayed at Sands Inn & Suites the night of 02/22/26, a Sunday, and had a relatively fine stay overall. The gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was very pleasant. The room was very decent and clean, albeit a bit outdated. I would have given 4 or 5 stars, but the gentleman the morning of check out wasn't particularly pleasant. I had a 10am tele-meeting that ran long, until about noon. Aware that check out was at 11am, I was apologetic to the maid that knocked at approx. 11:30am and let her know I'd be out shortly. About the same time I was about to walk out, the front desk gentleman came and aggressively knocked on the door. When I opened it to tell him I was on my way out, he very rudely told me I need to leave and that check out was at 11am. I apologized again and let him know I

We've spent Many times at Sands Inn! And the rooms we stay in are Always Great! We Always like to go in the pool or the hot tub! And this is very close to one of our son's family, where he has 2 sons! We Also like to eat and drink in the morning from the breakfast room at Sands! Monica Severson

This is a very well-run operation. My room was very clean as was the overall property. The pet fee ($25. per day) is reasonable as is the daily room rate. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast is better than at most other similarly-priced hotels. The staff is also excelllent. Finally, it is very conveniently located - right of HWY 101. and so close to both downtown SLO and Cal Poly.

This place needs to be shut down. It’s unsafe and disgusting. I went to my room and the door was broken. It took all of my strength to open it and close it again when I left. The clientele here looks like the hotel is run as a brothel. The front desk woman told me I could get a refund because I didn’t feel safe to stay but the manager has ignored my calls and emails for weeks. DO NOT STAY HERE

This experience was adequate but certainly not all that memorable. The property is a little tired, and some superficial efforts have been made with accessories and wall coverings to try and improve the dated bones of the property, but it's a little bit of a strange combination. Check-in was friendly enough, and there's not much to complain about other than a relatively lackluster breakfast. At least one was included. ||No power options to charge the phone next to the bed is always a frustration.
