San Francisco Central Hotel

I've stayed here a bunch of times over the years. It used to be a decent value but sometime this year prices essentially tripled for no apparent reason. The rooms are somewhat in disrepair but the beds are overall very comfortable. Several times I've gotten a room with a broken heater and absolutely froze to death all night as the office said there was nothing they could do about it. Seems like they could have at least provided a space heater or some extra blankets. The manager and housekeeping staff are very friendly. Other desk staff are a mixed bag. There's one older fellow who works the night shift that seems like he needs a vacation but I suppose he puts up with a lot. As far as security goes, I'm not even sure if they have any. Yes there are people that wander the halls at night but

The location is very convenient as it’s a walking distance to many great popular tourist spots. Staff is very helpful and informative on local commute and transportation to the airport in the very early morning.

My room was clean and safe, I arrive almost 11 pm, lobby was closed, but a sign lead me to the back and ring the bell, the friendly attendant shows up immediately.

The man at front desk was terrible, he did not try to help me or get me checked in, i had to spend hour or more with customer support even though he found my reservation and had the info on paper and in his computer right in front of him. My reservation was obviously valid and paid for, he was being cruel and harsh. it was extremely stressful. this place has many homeless wondering onto the property or actually booking a room many low people and smokers in the halls at least the halls are open to air but it still gets smoke into rooms, if u can find anything else in any area of city best to choose that, bc its a bad one star property. the front desk is only a tiny window after dark with safety glass like for bullet proof. they also play game where they have room ready but make u

Decent sized parking lot with plenty of spaces ($20 to park, but not secured). The area was relatively nice for SF in the day and night. We didn't have any issues with shady people hanging out in parking lot or occupants making much noise. Our room was right next to housekeeping room, so we heard talking all morning. Rooms, furniture, appliances are all very dated and not in good condition. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Clean bedding and towels. Overall a 2 star hotel with a 4 star price.
