MWR RV Campground This is a mixed bag review, overall, the campground gets poor marks for lack of maintenance but with so few options in the area it's not all bad and is budget friendly. If you know what to expect you'll have a better experience. Let's get into it, the good, price and location if you need something close to Richmond, VA that won't break the bank. It's secure and police ride through about twice a day and you're on a gated base so you do need Military or DOD ID to access the base. There is no playground for amenities just power and water (except site #6 the power is not working) there's no sewer at the site but there is a dump station. The #1 thing to remember if you stay here is you must stay on the gravel; any area not graveled is super soft and wet. We saw some deep ruts
Requires base access. Responsive MWR staff, both email and phone. Simple to reserve if you just read the directions on the website and fill out the form correctly. Sites are spread out. Very easy access.
As a full-timer for 2 years, I'm pretty in tune with what constitutes good CG customer service. The manager of this CG doesn't have it. I tried making reservations four months out, and he didn't return phone calls. He finally replied to an email, telling me I had to submit a form to make the reservation. OK, no problem. I found the form on the website and emailed it to him. Then he emails me back and tells me that one is outdated, and I have to resubmit with the attached one. Guess he couldn't be bothered to post the correct one. So I resubmit and finally get a site. On arrival day, my wife calls him to reconfirm our site number. He tells her we can only stay two nights, then have to move to another site. No explanation, no compensation for the hassle, and no prior notification that we ne
Great location to visit with our daughter, son in law, and newborn granddaughter; and stay in the RV Camp minimizing disruption of home life with their first child. The DSCR/DDRV installation is about 8 miles from their apartment in Richmond. Plenty of pull-thru room for our A-class RV, trailer and SUV. A super quiet post with lots of warehouses, a collection of military aviation artifacts displayed here-and-there, and a unique history that accounts for a small herd of elk still in residence.
No septic hookups, no amenities nearby, our site was swamped out and no one answered phones. During the summer I have to imagine this place would be teeming with insects, but during the winter it was at least somewhat peaceful. Train horns in the distance only ruined that a little bit. $30 a night is terribly overpriced without septic hookups.
