Residence Inn by Marriott San Jose South

Positive: Breakfast is amazing, staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, my interactions with hotel employee were amazing. They went above and beyond multiple times and I?m truly grateful Negative: The price went up after the holidays. J/k i liked everting about my experience.

Update: Our second stay was even better than the first. Our room was very comfy and seemed to be refreshed. This is our go to stop for when we visit San Jose and we will be back again. Rooms can use a little updating but the location is nice right off the 85 and in a decent area. Jack in the box super close and a grocery store and other shopping across the street. The breakfast was good as usual from residence inn. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Above all the bed was comfy and we got a great night's rest.

Average among the Residence Inns I've stayed at.||Rooms are clean and have modern amenities. ||Outdoor recreation area is relatively small, with a pool and bbq area.||There's a small room with tables, adjacent to the lobby. Doubles as breakfast area and hang out area for people working.||Staff was professional and moderately friendly.||Breakfast was acceptable. Hot choices were fairly limited. I believe they had eggs and sausage daily, then rotated breakfast sandwiches and waffles. They had cereal with a lot of add-on grain options. Coffee was pretty good.||They charge extra for parking. Won’t stay here again. This was our 2nd—and final—stay at Residence Inn San Jose South. We stayed here before because of its location and because it’s a long-term stay hotel, and we're Bonvoy members. Unfortunately, the guest experience has clearly declined since our last visit. It feels like the hotel is under new management that is aggressively cutting costs and deferring maintenance while waiting for a future renovation. The fitness room is a good example. Last year, there were two treadmills. One has since been removed, and the remaining treadmill has been broken for over a week. The only elliptical machine doesn't work properly: both the incline/ramp function and the TV monitor have been broken for months. That leaves a single stationary bike for the entire hotel. I had a very poor experience at the Residence Inn San Jose South. The room I was given was dirty upon arrival. One of the pillows appeared to have vomit on it, which was extremely disturbing and unacceptable for a hotel of this brand. I was told by staff that I would receive a refund due to the condition of the room, but no refund was ever issued. Instead, I was later charged for allegedly smoking marijuana in the room. This accusation is completely false. I do not smoke marijuana, and no one in my family does either. The way this situation was handled was unprofessional and unfair. Rather than addressing the cleanliness issue, the hotel placed blame on me and charged me incorrectly. The staff treated me very poorly throughout the process.
