Residence Inn by Marriott Palo Alto Mountain View

I stayed at this hotel twice mostly because it was close to my work, and it had decent breakfast included. The 3rd time I booked and came, it turned out that they were going through some reconstruction, and there was no breakfast, or rather that the breakfast was extremely limited to just scrambled eggs, and wheat bread. Very disappointing. On top of that I was charged a water bottle fee of $11, despite the fact that I haven't taken any water bottles in the hotel, and my room had none when I checked in. The AC thermostat wasn't working, so I had to be moved to another room.

Not what is pictured on website - completely misleading. A series of condo buildings that have been repurposed into a “hotel,” all with exterior facing doors, and poor lighting leading to them (very noticeable when you’re arriving early or late due to long days at the office). There is only one actual building (the one shown on website), which thankfully I was moved to after one night because I complained about safety. Staff was nice but not too interested in helping. I am unclear how there can be so many positive reviews on the Marriott website. Workout room has a moldy smell, no bikes and no mat. Neither room I was in had a luggage rack. Residence Inn Los Altos and Menlo Park are both much nicer and not like this horror show.

I've stayed here twice, it was amazing both the times. Had a relaxed stay. The hotel staff are quite friendly and helpful. I was here for an office trip and the place is quite accessible to a lot of corporate offices around. The only drawback is that this place does not have a lift. So if you're given a room that's on the first floor, you may break your back lugging your suitcases up the stairs and back down.

The property feels tired and definitely in need of some updates. Our room was cleaned every few days, and even then, the housekeeping often seems rushed or incomplete. It’s frustrating to come back to a “cleaned” room and still find things left undone. What’s worse, management doesn’t seem interested in addressing guest concerns — any issues we brought up were met with indifference. For the price, I expected much better upkeep and service. There are many Marriott hotels in the area and I would recommend staying elsewhere until things improve.

Honestly, one of the best experiences I've had staying at an ~ 3 star motel. Friday evening the staff was very accommodating to my requests (a quiet, 2nd floor room). My traveling partner and I like to joke with each other and the staff joined in (very professionally), making the check in process very enjoyable. The room was new / modern, very clean and spacious. The size and quality of the room greatly exceeded my expectations. The breakfast choices were very good and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The staff on duty on Saturday and Sunday morning were again, very friendly, professional and skilled. I had a great stay.
