Red Roof Inn Norfolk - Portsmouth

This was the worst hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. I have been in the hospitality business for over 37 years, in management positions with Marriott, Renaissance, Red Roof Inn, Clarendon Hotel - SE London/. In the USA and England. My stay with this Red Roof Inn made me question who are these people with total disregard for cleanliness and proper upkeep for the brand. I first was greeted by a nice lady at front desk. She honored my request for a room that not smelling of smoke. But attached are pics of the rooms condition. Lastly asked for a late checkout and was told by the man at front desk, I couldn't have one. I asked if hotel was full and said no, he could't honor my request. I will never again risk my health with such a property.

I picked this hotel because my house was being fumigated, and I couldn't leave my cat in the house. There were signs all over saying smoking wasn't allowed, but when I stepped into the lobby, it was like a smokers' convention was ongoing. The receptionist wasn't very friendly. But, I took my key and my cat, and entered my room, which also smelled smoky with mildew thrown in. I didn't expect a view, and was not surprised to find an old chain link fence around a parking lot.| |On checking the sheets (I always spray them with disinfectant) I found mysterious stains. The door had no security latch. There were screw holes where one had been. This is a not very safe area, so I was uneasy.||When I told the receptionist the sheets were dirty, she checked and told me she could give me some clean s

The only thing I have positive to say is the gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and polite. We had a nice conversation as we checked in. I don't know iw if they just bought the place and was trying to get by or what. But the sheets were stained or had holes in them. The bath towels had long dark hairs hanging from them, and the TV we had to operate by hand because the remote didn't operate the tv just the cable box. but like I said the staff was very polite and friendly. I hope they can improve.

Positive: Nothing Negative: The people at the front was very rude when I went to check in. The hotel didn't look like anything in the pictures online and it wasn't in a good neighborhood at all!!! The room was nasty and smelled like meldue the shower was falling apart.

This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. The room was absolutely dirty and filthy. The bed sheets were stained and even had burn marks on them, which is completely unacceptable and made me question whether they had been cleaned at all. The hallways were just as bad — they constantly smelled awful, like a mix of old smoke and garbage, and it lingered the entire stay. It was unpleasant just walking to and from the room. To make matters worse, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of addressing concerns, they had a terrible attitude and acted as if complaints were an inconvenience. Customer service was easily the worst part of the experience. Overall, this hotel is poorly maintained, unsanitary, and staffed with people who clearly don’t care about their guests
