Red Roof Inn Akron

This location chose to call a service dog a pet and attempt to count them toward the pet designation and cite a non-existent ordinance in Akron regarding the number of pets allowed in a hotel room. ||Red Roof website stated 3 pets were allowed to stay but when that was shown to them, they said their policy had changed and even went so far as to kick another couple out after they lodged a complaint with Red Roof corporate in the wee hours of the morning.||Do better. Far better options available in the area.

The staff was really nice. We love going to Red Roof Inns because of our dog. Unfortunately this one gets 3 stars because the first room we had (104) was pretty bad. It smelled really bad, like wet feet. The room looked nice. The desk next to the TV was attached to the wall but hanging at an angle. We decided to stay there even with the smell. When we woke there were cockroaches in our bags. We left and when we came back from our day there was a cockroach in the bed. I then noticed the door was not sealed at the bottom. Probably how roaches were just coming in. I told the front desk, showed pictures, and asked for another room and they immediately moved us. They were really apologetic and said they would get the door fixed. I really appreciated it. When we got to the second room it smell

Positive: "" Negative: The room smelled really bad of cigarette smoke and body odor, enough that I could not enjoy my stay at all. Lots of broken fixtures and dirty surfaces, the desk chair was broken, and the Wi-Fi was weak and slow and kept disconnecting.

I have to sleep at the Red Roof chain because I travel with my dog. I usually protect their bed with my own clean coverings. I could not get a location on I 80 East, the app suggests the Akron location. Quite pricey for the value. My room was ok,larger than others as I usually prefer the king bed, quite clean, nice bathroom counter. A lingering tobacco smell was apparent, though the room was advertised as a non smoking. Maybe due to a previous traveler or to ventilation. The refrigerator s gaskets will not close and seal the door properly, it needs to be replaced to avoid the mini fridge to be on most of the night. Very friendly and professional young lady behind the counter!

I’ve honestly never been so mind blown by utter ignorance. Upon checking out the man working at the front desk went to check our room before giving our deposit back naturally. When he came back to the lobby he held up a face cloth I had used to wash the makeup off of my face. I gave him a confused look because I wasn’t sure why he was showing me that. He then held up a towel that was also dirty, and refused to give our deposit back. So if you ever do visit here bring your own towels or it’s an extra $100 charge 😂
