Quality Inn Harrisonburg I-81

What should have been an easy hotel stay turned into a frustrating mess entirely because of this place’s poor communication and unprofessional behavior. We called ahead more than once to ask questions before booking and were met with rude, dismissive responses. There was no attempt at being helpful — just irritation for daring to ask for basic information. We were told the pool was open from 7–10 PM, conveniently leaving out the fact that it’s outside. In 20-degree weather. That’s not useful information, and it feels intentionally misleading. After confirming the reservation, things somehow got worse. We stayed one night at the Quality Inn in Harrisonburg, VA during a road trip, and overall it was a decent budget-friendly stop. We had accidentally booked the wrong date through a third-party app, but the woman at the front desk was incredibly patient and helped us sort everything out so we didn’t lose our non-refundable reservation. That alone was greatly appreciated. The room itself was pretty standard for a Quality Inn. Two double beds, fairly comfortable, and the bathroom was relatively clean. The shower was nice and hot, which felt amazing after a long day of travel. There were a few things that weren’t ideal—some stains on the bathroom wall (hopefully rust!) and a very large bug visitor that I personally decided to believe was “just a cricket” for my own sanity. Great locations for restaurants and shops. Main strip from I-81 exit 247A towards Massanuttenn ski resort. Walking distance to good steakhouse. Easy access to get back onto I-81. Clean property, nice parking and hot breakfast with waffle maker, eggs, sausage, etc.

Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience with this Quality Inn. My friends and I booked a room at this location for New Year’s Eve through Expedia after the hotel’s website was down. We called the hotel multiple times before arrival to confirm the reservation and ask general check-in questions. At no point during these calls, nor anywhere on the Expedia listing, were we informed that this hotel does not allow local residents to stay. Our reservation was approved and paid for in full. It wasn’t until we were only minutes away, when we called to ask what documentation would be needed to check in, that we were suddenly told over the phone that locals are not allowed. Our room had black mold over the shower enclosure on the wall and ceiling. On Saturday morning I asked for it to be cleaned but when we returned Sat night they didn't clean the mold. However, I went down on Sunday morning and spoke to Robert who was the manager on duty. He was unbelievable understanding and professional on how he handled the issue. (I need to add I am allergic to mold and have special cleaning in my house since I was a child and to this day use an inhaler when exposed.) Robert was very understanding and compassionate of my health needs and moved us to another room for Sunday night and is offering us a refund (with consultation of his boss) for one night. However, the refund hasn't been processed correctly and as of 10/21 we don't have that straightened out. We called
