Portage Inn

Construction worker. I stayed here for almost 10 weeks. Working at BP whiting. I will definitely be staying here next time I come to work in the area. Decent hotel for the price. No bugs, quiet, owner is very nice, Hot water, decent bed. What more do you need? Grocery store, laundry, and drug store are 5 mins away.

6200 melton rd across from Dennys. |My buddy called to say the electric didn’t work. That he couldn’t watch tv and he said go to sleep. Then he said I don’t want to he said don’t talk to me like that. What room number? Then he said leave I don’t give a eff. Then he said leave the premise. Ohh my goodness wild wild wild hotel. Crazy. Never in my life. I was laughing so hard but at the same time it was ridiculous.

Positive: Wonderful staff. Negative: There was no shower curtain, nail polish spilled all over the floor, the phone and tv did not work at all, the bathroom was filthy, no extra toilet paper, there was still food in the fridge so no one cleaned the room fully. The pool's completely filled in

The rooms are very large and clean compared to more expensive hotels. All rooms have refrigerators and a microwave. There is also WiFi available for your use. You have a choice between one king or two queen beds. While being an older hotel, it is very well kept. I enjoy that the room doors open to the outside instead of a hallway. Feel free to bring along a lawn chair if you are like me and enjoy sitting outside for fresh air. Don’t worry, the walkway between rooms is covered to provide shade and protect from the elements if you choose to sit outside. The best part about this hotel is the management… any issues that may arise, they are quick to respond and resolve with a friendly smile to insure you are satisfied with your hotel experience. Positive: The person who was working the evening shift was friendly, very helpful, responded to every request we made with the utmost courtesy and made our stay very pleasant. The bed was super comfortable. Negative: I wish the pool had been open, and I understand that there was some work to be done. The room needed some attention and the evening desk clerk took care of it immediately for us.
