Econo Lodge Portage

I stayed here couple days ago...the guy at the front desk was very nice & kind I liked him. The room was nothing fancy it is an Econolodge but it was VERY clean....no smells everyrhing very clean & tidy. Bed was well made nice clean comfortable crisp sheets....plenty of towels....clean toilet shower & sink. This is not the Ritz what it is is a decent clean seemingly safe motel with very clean rooms & these days I would call a GOOD VALUE. When I travel to Chicago once again I will atay here in between! Im giving 5 Stars because for the price you pay here....it was actually nice! Thank you!

One of the filthiest motels I have ever stayed at. No attention to detail. The bed was filthy, the towels were dirty and not bleached or sanitized. God knows what was on the walls. The shower was full of mold and mildew. Looks like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Floors were disgusting.

I would not recommend for many reasons. I will say front desk were very nice. We were sleeping for only a few hours. The room was soooo hot. A/C was not on and when we turned on, it took hours to even start cooling down. Bathroom was just gross-dirt, mold, stains. All the towels had stains. This non-smoking hotel overwhelming smelled like smoke. Door did not close fully and there was a nicotine pouch stuck to the wall. I do t think they even clean the rooms. If it wasn't so late, and we were traveling for more than 16 hrs already, we would have left. Save your money. Read other reviews.|On the review responses in which owners state they will address issues immediately; the same issues exist.

I usually stay at econ lodge and don't listen to the reviews, but this one is different. Please listen to the reviews one star that's it. I don't know how someone can give it anything higher than that said, if you need a quick place to stay and you have all your gear with you Sure try it out. It's cheap, kinda, but if you can afford a few dollars more go there.

I don’t understand why there are bad reviews — I really liked it! They even checked me in a bit earlier because I’m pregnant. I usually stay at the Intercontinental (5 stars), but due to certain circumstances I had to stay here — and I don’t regret it! It’s close to the dunes, the bed is clean, there’s a shower, a fridge, blackout curtains — what else do you need? The staff were polite and helpful. There’s an ice machine and a laundry room, though I didn’t use them. Yes, some rooms have little dogs, such cuties, but they didn’t bark at all and didn’t disturb my sleep — and I’m a very light sleeper. And it felt safe! Believe me, if I, a pregnant woman, only 5 feet tall, felt secure here, then you definitely will too. Plus, coffee in the morning — free! ☕✨
