NOC campsite A

The Nantahala Outdoor Center is best experienced by staying overnight on the property. There are many different options, from lodges to cabins to tents. My group of middle school aged Scouts stayed in the tents at Campsite A, a great little semi-circle of 7 tents with a fire ring and picnic tables in the center. It's an easy walk to the Adventure Center, and showers/toilets are nearby (but up a fairly steep hill). Ou group took full advantage of the NOC Adventures. We did whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking, kayaking on a lake, high ropes, and zip-lining all on property. We also spent an entire day tubing a mountain stream in the Deep Creek section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and an evening hiking to the top of Kuwohi to view the sunset. The NOC is a perfect home

This was the mid stop on the train ride on very cool, restrooms and food. Word of warning if you decide to get food here while you're doing the train ride and they end up getting left behind because it takes too long for the service and have time to eat your food.

Overall good experience staying in the platform tents. The negative that keeps this from being 5 ⭐ is that the front flaps on our tent did not close. I all honesty at the bottom there was a minimum 6 inch gap. Luckily we had plenty of warm clothes and sleeping bags but the draft was painful. I ended up duct taping a towel over the entry to help. We'll come back but may choose a regular tent site next time.

I took a trip with my friends across NC mountains. What trip! Gorgeous scenery and friendly staff!
