Nob Hill Guesthouse

Rooms and the building are old. The ceiling in my room 516 was peeling off. You can hear your neighbors through the walls. It’s super cold and hot because the windows are a century old. The front door is old and they had break ins. 1 star review for the management of this building, Adam and Jay Lopez. Before I moved in they said they will clean my room, when I moved in they didn’t clean the room but they sent me a picture of a cleaner in the room. After I moved out I left a place clean, but they charged me a 50$ fee. They didn’t wanted to return my deposit back at all and were all ignoring my messages and calls. We stayed in this location via Airbnb (where it had a surprising >4.5 Review), but it was an absolute disappointment: dirty shared bathrooms (worse than I have seen on camping grounds or other hostels), lots of dust in every corner. In our room, also dust on surfaces, the bed linen was dirty, too. The kitchen was an absolute desaster. In the lobby, old mattresses just lay around. Good: the bed was comfortable. Location is also good (you need a cable car though, which stops in front of the house).

This is a very special place. It is somewhere you would stay to write a mystery novel. Simple, in the heart of old San Francisco, right in the cable car line. Don’t expect modern amenities and you will love it. Imagine it is 1932 and you are here on a small stipend to write a book and explore the city for inspiration. Walking distance to China Town and North Beach along histories streets and alleys.

On Airbnb it appears as Nob Hill - Queen room with shared bathroom. It is a Guesthouse, the rooms are on the fourth floor, with a shared bathroom, there are 5 bathrooms per floor, and a kitchen on the second. Regarding the location, it is excellent near the most touristy and well connected to public transport. Being located on a hill it has a very good view and the rooms are spacious. As points against the main one is the cleanliness of the bathrooms since they are not cleaned regularly and when they are cleaned they do not do it well. The facilities are old but that gives a particular atmosphere to the place.
