Family hols. First time in San Fran; have been to various destinations in Europe and USA. Me and wife very often get sponsored my companies (due to the nature of our work) for conferences and almost always enjoyed great hotels. We didnt have time to look around and choose hotels; just picked one we considered central. Hols from 1st to 7th July; late to book, many other hotels full and vacancies are priced at premium.||So we booked Minna, 2 rooms (for our 2 sons), many other hotels didnt have free rooms in our date range. More like a hostel. Very basic rooms. Toilets and showers are outside but there are several in each floor. TV worked. Bed really comfortable. Breakfast very simple but we, for some reason, were not too unhappy. Location central. Price: very cheap.||Our days were full; left
This place is very affordable, the rooms are small but they are clean and safe. I stayed here a week for a conference. It is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get to places of interest. The trams on Market street are just two blocks away and they will get you most places with ease. The shared bathrooms didn't really present a problem. I felt safe while in the hotel. That being said, the surrounding area of the hotel has one of the highest homeless populations I saw while I was there. There were easily 30+ homeless people outside at any given hour of the day or night. From the lobby I saw a homeless lady pee on the street. Stay here long enough and you may get to see people doing heroin in the streets, get an offer or two from ladies of the night, and step over your fair share of h
Don't expect luxury when you choose the cheapest hotel in San Francisco. For the price, this place is excellent. Never wait for the shower and every single time I had to go to the bathroom I was alone. Shared bathroom and shower was not an issue at all. It looks exactly like the picture posted by the administration so it's not a trap, it's a beautiful renovated building. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The lady booked the shuttle for the airport for us (at a very good price) and stored our luggage the last day so we can enjoy our trip till the very end. There is a lot of homeless and weird people outside. I wasn't 100% comfortable with that, but you only have to walk 2 minutes to be in a better place. My room faced the street and it was VERY noisy. Every morning people yelling outside
The room was awful, the neighbourhood very dangerous. The 2 stars are for the friendly receptionist. I literally couldn’t hide my room from the outside, as there was no curtains or shutter. No private bathroom, a collective and (in my experience) dirty one. The streets are full of homeless and addicts, fault to the government but nonetheless very disturbing for a tourist and the shout at night... beware of the zombies. Add to all that the ridiculous price, I paid 110$ a night for my room and changed after the second day to go to Hilton near Union Square for 130$ a night... Overall a big scam. I stayed from August 20 to August 22 before changing. I do not recommend to solo travellers.
Location is really close to a lot of attractions however it isn't always the safest area, a lot of noise at night and a lot of homeless people. We were never bothered though. Rooms were simple but were perfect for what we wanted as a young couple exploring the city. Facilities were kept clean, there was one per corridor. Would stay here again!
